of the Society of Critical Care Medicine
The Southeast Chapter of SCCM was first established in the mid 1990’s, and is one of the largest chapters of SCCM based on geographic area. The Chapter was instrumental to the development of the Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) course, and the first president of the Chapter was Dr. Loren Nelson, a physician and former SCCM president (26th). Challenges in economy and geography led to a decline in Chapter activity; however changes in leadership and new strategies have resulted in a prolific resurgence of the Chapter in 2012.
To emulate SCCM’s mission which is to secure the highest quality care for all critically ill and injured patients in the southeast region by providing educational and research opportunities as well as promoting multi-professional collaboration.
That all critically ill and injured persons in the southeast region will receive care from a present integrated team of dedicated trained intensivists and critical care specialists as well as inspire new leaders and providers of critical care in the region.
